Carmen Irene assumed the position of Executive Director of CALI in July, 2010. She is also Founder and Executive Director of Estrategia & Negocios, the leading business magazine for Central America and the Caribbean. She is responsible for planning and directing Estrategia & Negocios’ editorial content, the Business Intelligence Unit, and Electronic and Specialized Products. She has coordinated forums and roundtables to promote political debate and social dialogue in Central America, managing to place Estrategia & Negocios as the main reference for decision makers in the region. She has interviewed prominent leaders such as Bjorn Lomborg from the Copenhagen Consensus, Donald Trump, David Rubenstein, David Lovegrove from the Irish Miracle, Roger Noriega, Michael Chu from IGNIA Fund, and media personalities such as Andrés Oppenheimer, and Carlos Montaner. In partnership with other investors, she acquired E&N products in February 2006 She graduated in Economics and Business Administration from Universidad Dr. José Matías Delgado in El Salvador with honors, and belongs to the second promotion of the Central American Leadership Initiative (CALI). She is part of INCAE’S National Council and Fepade´s board, and leads Vital Voices as President for El Salvador´s chapter. She was named “Distinguished Professional 2008” by Universidad Dr. José Matías Delgado. Carmen Irene is a Fellow of the Central America Leadership Initiative and the Aspen Global Leadership Network. Outside of her profession, she shares her free time with her three children, Maria Jose, Juan Diego and Javier, who live with her in San Salvador. She has a first-degree black belt in Kenpo Karate.
