CALI VII - Off to a great start!

The newest CALI class recently concluded their first seminar, The Challenge of Leadership, this past November 28th to December 3rd, in La Reunion, outside of colonial Antigua Guatemala. The seminar, moderated by Harry Strachan, Stace Lindsay and Diego de Sola, emphasized on the attributes of effective leaders, for example Ghandi and Nelson Mandela. Fellows also discussed and analyzed Martin Luther King Jr’s Letter from Birmingham Jailand Niccholo Machiavelli’s, The Prince, amongst other readings. All Fellows shared insightful comments and reflections on the texts.

CALI VII’s first seminar was quite amusing. The profound seminars were followed by nightly gatherings and even a special nightwhere Harry taught Fellows how toplay poker. Fellows also had a great time completing a scavenger hunt throughout Antigua. Amongst the quirky challenges they had to accomplish, were a reenacting of the famous Beatles Abbey road album cover and photographing as many ‘tuctucs’ (Antigua’s version of a taxi) as possible! The scavenger hunt was followed by a fun dinner at founding partner, Juan Luis Bosch’s house in Antigua.

CALI VII is off to a great start. Next up for Fellows, is the “Aspen Seminar” in Costa Rica and the Globalization Seminar in Jordan, South Africa, India, Antigua or Aspen. The enthusiastic group ended their seminar in a positive and highly motivated note—all seem to have shaken the inner leader within!
