This past December 8th, Salvadoran CALI VI Fellows, Hugo Martinez, Claudia Umaña, Rodrigo Simán, and Tomás Calderón, signed the bylaws for their Fundación DTJ (Democracy, Transparency and Justice) in San Salvador before twenty -eight outstanding Salvadoran attendees. Board members were also elected during Fundacion DTJ’s launching event. The new initiative will promote dialogue and trust building, with the purpose of reducing the high polarization levels in Salvadoran society. Each of the participating Fellows has a different role in the project’s execution. Tomas will be in charge of strengthening democracy and citizen participation. Rodrigo Siman will cover challenges in health policies. Chancellor, Hugo Martinez’s area will regard effective public security, and lastly, Claudia Umaña will cover transparency and rule of law. The project hopes to foster a national common vision in which all Salvadorans are involved in the formation of a developed country.
