The Promise of Leadership Seminar
For their fourth and last seminar, The Promise of Leadership, the CALI III Fellows, self-named CAtaLIzadores, met in Antigua, Guatemala, from April 12 to April 16. During their five days together, they discussed on the importance of enjoying life and prioritizing how they want to spend their valuable time and shared some of the obstacles, anecdotes and experiences acquired during this long and enriching journey of 18 months. Readings such as Seneca’s - The shortness of life, and Orwell’s - Shooting an Elephant, brought these messages to their hearts. Fellows also had time to present the progress made on their individual leadership projects, many demonstrating true passion for their chosen paths, others expressing frustration and still trying to find their calling.
The CAtaLIzadores had been hoping since their first encounter, to spend a night cooking together, a wish that came true when Salvador Biguria offered his home in Antigua for this purpose.
Finally, to end their CALI experience on a high note, the CAtaLIzadores celebrated their graduation at our founder’s Juan Luis Bosch’s residence in Antigua. Over 60 Fellows, founders, spouses, and family joined us in this celebration. The event started with a procession typical of Antigua’s Holy Week, which paralleled their need to walk together as a team, to trust each other and aim for a same goal in working for a better Central America.
Fellows were committed to keep working for the benefit of the Central American Region, applying all the lessons that, as new leaders, they must consider to make positive changes in each and every country represented during the period.
Last, but not least, we must announce that this class made an unprecedented pledge to CALI for $122,850 over 5 years. Thank you CALI III for your commitment and for your leadership!
