Inauguration of Second ADA National Congress


Second Amigos del Aprendizaje (ADA) National Congress gets inaugurated by the Minister of Education, Leonardo Garnier and the founder of INBio, Rodrigo Gamez, in collaboration with ADA, where CALI II Fellow Renata Villers’s is a founding member and executive director.

ADA is the leading NGO pioneering teacher professional development to improve educational opportunities for low-income children in Costa Rica. ADA is a Costa Rican non-profit organization dedicated to teacher professional development to enhance the educational opportunities of low-income children. ADA works with teachers, families and community volunteers to promote reading readiness, reading and critical thinking among “at-risk” children in the Costa Rican elementary schools to improve the quality of public education. Through its involvement of volunteers, corporate and other sponsors, ADA also promotes a culture of social responsibility and fosters private – public sector partnerships.

At the inaugural event there were more than 180 participants, educators and special guests invited, including members from the faculties of UNED, UCR, and UNA, the adviser of the education vice-minister, supervisors of circuits, civil employees of CENADI and directors of ONGs among others.
