CALI representative Mirei Endara de Heras meets for the first Aspen Global Leadership Network workshop, which took place from May 2 though May 4 of 2007. Among the participating members where individuals representing Trustee, AI Leadership Initiatives, Henry Crown, Liberty, Rodel, ALI, ILI, Education, Catto, John P. McNulty Award, AI Development and AI Communications.
The vision of the AGLN is to create an ever-growing group of leaders who are committed to improving society through values-based leadership and action. The AGLN is a network, which serves the Fellows and organizers of the different leadership initiatives to grow, learn and support one another.

The biggest challenges identified by the group where fundraising, nurturing and maintaining the sense of fellowship, creating value from the network, not re-inventing the wheel, and developing and growing the moderator corps.

Among the discussion topics where building effective networks, ensuring core values for the network, creating a criteria for members of the AGLN, discussing the nomination and selection of Fellows and local Moderators, establishing regulations for the conduction of seminars, developing a mechanism for accountability on leadership projects, and making a case for funding. Attendants also spoke about the importance of getting the word out about the AGLN. As a result, an idea to create a AGLN magazine and website emerged. The concept is to utilize these vehicles to communicate the leadership message and the Aspen Idea.

The meeting is said to reconvene in November of December of 2007.
