Project #1: Business Angels Network: linking potential donors and mentors with entrepenurs and their ideas.  Build an Angel Capital Fund for those entrepenurs to give them consulting and financial support. Project #2: Aspen Fellow Plug: Use technology to connect all the members of the AGLN network.

Name of Project:
BANAC Co-investment Fund

What will it do?
Put together a Fund to invest in projects presented to the Business Angels Network. The Fund will invest in any project where a business angel invests, to the point of matching the exact investment of the business angels. This investment will give confidence to the business angels and support the entrepreneur in not having to raise additional money.

Who/what will it benefit and how?
It will benefit entrepreneurs in Guatemala that need investment, have appropriate business plan, and pass the Business Angels selection process.

How will it be implemented?
The fund should be a minimum of US$ One million. Contributors to the fund can be International Cooperation agencies or Banks like IDB and World Bank. Philanthropic Foundations will be approached to become a counterpart of one of these organizations. A manger of the fund will be appointed. This person will manage the selection process together with the BANAC (Business Angel Network) Committee.

What is your role?
Gathering the resources, making the strategic contacts, hiring the manager and making sure the Fund is created and executed.

How it will be measured?
If the Fund gets created and invests all its money in a maximum of three years, the project will be a success.

Does it meet the criteria for projects laid out in the project descriptor?

Why is this project worthy of ALI/ILI?
It can be replicated in other regions.

Name of Project:
Aspen Fellow Hub

What will it do?
Create a platform of technology and networking activities to allow members of the Aspen Global Leadership Network to utilize the full power of the Network.

Who/what will it benefit and how?
Initially, all members of the Aspen Global Leadership Network will benefit from the increased interaction with other members. This will open up opportunities for Fellows to expand their projects to their full potential, therefore reaching out to more people in their respective projects. .

How will it be implemented?
The first phase will involve the usage of a networking platform like Facebook, Linked in or another proprietary technology, making sure it is accessible to all CALI Fellows. The second phase will create the necessary tools for Fellows to have a constant update of the projects in the Network and update other projects. The third phase will involve a deployment strategy to engage Fellows into using the network and sharing common experiences with other fellows. It will also identify potential groups of interest.

What is your role?
My role will be to lead the creation of the technology platform and the implementation process to make sure it is actually being used.

How it will be measured?
By the number of CALI Fellows who interconnect with each other and by the frequency of usage of the resources.

Does it meet the criteria for projects laid out in the project descriptor?
Yes

Why is this project worthy of ALI/ILI?
