Sylvia’s project is a magazine insert called Switch. It is conceived, designed and edited by young people.
Switch is a magazine that comes out every Friday of the week in El Periódico newspaper. The magazine’s principle objective is to present role models for the youth of Guatemala. It is called Switch because it means change.
“When I decided to start the Switch project, I did it because I realized that as a journalist fifteen years of my life had passed where I was denouncing corruption, denouncing abuses of power, but I wasn’t doing anything to help our young people.”
Every week individual council members select a young community leader to profile.
“Leadership is the moment in your life when you realize that you as an individual, are not important, but you are an agent of change that you have the power to change things, little by little, with small works”.
