Gian Marco Palazio - Central American Conscience

Conciencia Centroamericana is a project destined to elevate collective consciousness in our region’s general population.  Currently we are focusing on high school and university students.  Our PSA’s (public service announcements) communicate a decision based lifestyle in alignment with universal values.  These values for better living are: respect, ethics, integration, sustainability, positive attitude, consequence, and authentic action.  We publish in the Cuaderno Agenda Universitario which is distributed free to 12,500 university per semester in 5 universities in Managua, Nicaragua.  We have distributed hundreds of reference cards with our 7 Values to high school students together with a short presentation of these.  We have already had aired our three radio spots on various radio stations in Nicaragua, focusing on a variety of audiences.  We are currently in search for alliances with media partners, legal, design and media support and, of course, more funding.  Please visit us at www.concienciaca.org for more information.

2.What will it do?
The difficulties of our idiosyncrasies in Central America require constant reminders that we can be better people, families, and contributors of our society as a whole.  We will implement a massive public service announcement movement to elevate values, personal and collective consciousness and personal effectiveness.

3.Who/What will it benefit?
Those benefited are the general population who can read and exposed to our campaigns. 

4.How will it be implemented?
It will be implemented through original, innovative and eye catching public service announcement campaigns in traditional and alternative media in Central America.

5.What is my role?
My role is to create the organization’s image and first campaigns, organize the legal structure, initiate fund raising and guarantee first year of operations.

6. How will it be measured?
Its effectiveness will be measured with the number of ads and campaigns, the estimated ad viewers or exposed market, valuation of donations and support from alliances, feedback from public in events, hotlines and internet.

7. Does it meet the criteria for projects laid out in the project descriptor?
I have a passion for it because I feel our populations are not necessarily poor economically or in resources but miserable in consciousness and our respect of values. There is a necessity because values are basic fundamentals on which successful societies should be based and founded as well as their contributing components (families, organizations, private sector, personal contributors). It is coherent because it will tackle current, transcendental and personal effectiveness themes; all of these are shared among all members of society.

8. Why is it worthy of ALI/ILI
Our area of work is appropriate around the world in any region.  We are dealing with universal themes and presenting it in accepted manners.  Free moments of education, introspection and hope on a daily basis would be welcomed by anyone anywhere and would have positive effects on any society.  Finally, this is a very scalable and replicable program.
